Introduction

We're on the lookout for a skilled Construction Manager to join our team and help deliver large-scale solar developments-each generating over 90MW of clean energy. You'll play a key role in overseeing the safe and high-quality construction of these projects, including connections to the local DNO network. From managing contractors on-site to ensuring everything runs smoothly, safely, and to the highest standards, you'll be right at the heart of it all.

What will I be doing?

  • Champion safety and quality on site - Ensure health and safety standards are always met through regular, sensible monitoring and a proactive approach to continuous improvement. Make sure quality procedures and ITPs are followed to the letter.
  • Oversee contractor performance - Monitor all work to ensure it meets contractual and quality expectations. Identify any non-conformances or deviations from the schedule, design, or environmental standards-and take the lead in flagging and resolving them.
  • Drive progress and reporting - Provide daily updates to the Senior Project Manager, including activity rates, progress vs. BOQ, and accurate forecasting to keep everything on track.
  • Support technical and contractual excellence - Offer clear guidance to internal teams on technical, budget, and contractual matters. Draft corrective actions for contractor deviations and help maintain alignment across engineering, procurement, and construction phases.
  • Lead stakeholder communication and knowledge sharing - Act as the point of contact for local stakeholders and landowners when needed. Share lessons learned and best practices to strengthen team performance across current and future projects.

What do I need to succeed?

  • Solid experience in solar and utility construction - You've spent 5-10 years on-site as a Site Manager, Supervisor, or Owner's Representative, with hands-on experience in Substations delivering Solar PV, BESS, ICP,IPP or other utility-scale projects in the UK.
  • Strong technical and safety knowledge - You know the ins and outs of the development and construction process, HSE regulations, CDM requirements, and high-voltage transmission/distribution safety procedures.
  • Confident communicator and site lead - Whether it's welcoming executive teams or technical stakeholders for site visits, you're comfortable representing the project and leading with professionalism.
  • Qualified and competent - You hold an HNC/D or equivalent Level 4/5 qualification, along with IOSH or NEBOSH certification and a valid CSCS card (or equivalent).
  • Tech-savvy and organised - Proficient with Microsoft Office tools like SharePoint, Excel, Word, and Project, you know how to stay on top of reporting, documentation, and collaboration.
