Job description

Our client, a leading provider of engineering solutions in the rail and water sectors, is currently seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join their team on a contract basis. This role involves the design of UMON 3 and 4 upgrades for sewage treatment works nationwide, clean water main replacements, and rail drainage for HS2 projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide design deliverables that meet safety and quality standards
• Identify and communicate efficient design solutions from scopes and site visits to clients and project teams
• Direct and develop CAD technicians as well as junior designers and graduates
• Prepare design risk assessments, reports, and specifications
• Ensure compliance with relevant technical, professional, and water company standards
• Implement and record project changes for design packages
• Undertake work using formal processes and procedures
• Estimate hours required for design packages and present designs at ALM, KM meetings and similar

Job Requirements:

• Experience in the water and rail industry, ideally with both clean and dirty water
• Graduate, HND, or significant experience at Technician level
• Proficiency in IT and knowledge of engineering drawing practices
• Awareness of construction methods and materials
• Registered with a professional body and working towards chartership
• Strong technical knowledge and problem-solving skills
• Effective communication skills and a results-focused attitude
• Ability to develop self and others in a technical discipline

Preferred Qualifications:

• Chartered engineer status
• 10 years of relevant design experience in the water and rail industry
