Job description

Our client, a leading player in the defence sector, is currently seeking a Principal Engineer - Systems (Integration & Test) to join the team in Barrow on a contract basis.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leading system integration and testing processes within a defence environment
• Creating and compiling detailed test scripts for complex engineering systems
• Managing and coordinating system integration and testing within SIM/STIM environments
• Providing technical expertise and support to engineering teams
• Ensuring compliance with Defence Standards and industry regulations
• Overseeing the acceptance testing and accreditation of safety-critical systems
• Developing control system models using Mathworks toolsets
• Managing requirements, engineering life cycle and quality assurance processes

Job Requirements:

• Strong technical background in a complex engineering industry
• Experience with system integration, testing, and acceptance
• Proficiency in SIM/STIM environments
• Ability to compile effective test scripts
• Familiarity with Defence Standards and industry standards such as Def Stan 00-56, Def Stan 00-55, IEC 61508 / 61511, ARP 4754, DO-178C / DO-254
• Experience with the Mathworks toolsets for control system model development
• Understanding of systems engineering, requirements management, engineering lifecycle, and quality assurance
• CEng, MIET or the ability to work towards satisfying these requirements is desirable
