Our client, within the Public Sector, is seeking a dedicated NRSWA/Street Works Inspector to join their Network Management Team on a contract basis.

Job description

This role is integral to ensuring the compliance and safety of works on the borough's public highway network.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct high-quality inspections, recording, and reporting on statutory undertakers' works and council-promoted activities to ensure compliance and safety.
  • Validate the accuracy of Permit Condition data, and carry out performance monitoring as required under legislation.
  • Ensure potential charges and fines for utility works are effectively recovered through comprehensive inspections.
  • Establish and maintain excellent relationships with internal and external stakeholders, representing the Council at forums and meetings.
  • Engage positively with customers and stakeholders, maintaining a focus on high-quality service and addressing complaints tactfully.
  • Promote a customer-centric culture, working collaboratively with colleagues and external parties.
  • Systematically carry out inspections, recording site works, and using data capture devices. Identify and address defective works, ensuring statutory compliance.
  • Monitor the performance of statutory undertakers and Council contractors, supervising on-site personnel as necessary.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience in streetworks and a thorough understanding of the New Roads and Street Works Act (NRSWA).
  • Strong ability to perform inspections and accurately record findings, including photographic evidence for defects and notices.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective liaison with stakeholders and reporting.
  • Capability to manage multiple tasks, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and safety standards.
  • Proficient in using data capture devices and relevant software for documenting site activities.
  • Ability to represent the Council professionally at national and regional forums.
  • Knowledge of current relevant legislation, technical guidance, and Approved Codes of Practice.
