Contract Structural Aircraft Technician - TIG Welder (Outside IR35)
📍 Location: Isle of Wight - Travel costs covered for ferry transport if not based on the island. Shuttle bus available for local pick-up/drop-off.
💷 Rate: Up to £28/hour (DOE)
🕒 Hours: 40 per week | Flexible working available
📅 Contract: 6 months (potential for extension)
🚫 IR35 Status: Outside IR35
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Contract Structural Aircraft Technician with strong TIG welding skills, supporting the full range of structural fitting, overhaul, and upgrades on aircraft. From early detail stages through to final installation and release, you'll operate to high standards within a fast-paced aerospace production environment.
Key Responsibilities

Perform structural TIG welding and fitting tasks across production line activities.

Carry out installation, overhaul, and upgrade work on aircraft structures.

Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation confidently.

Support process improvements with the Assembly Supervisor and wider team.

Maintain compliance with Company Quality Assurance and safety procedures.

Complete quality and audit documentation accurately.

Keep work areas and tooling strictly controlled and compliant.

Assist in introducing new products and processes into full manufacture.
TIG Welding Requirements - Candidates must have proven experience and evidence of welding:
Aluminium Alloys Sheet to Sheet/Sheet to Tube
Carbon Steels Sheet to Sheet/Sheet to Tube/Tube to Tube
Corrosion & Heat Resisting Materials Sheet to Sheet/Sheet to Tube
Key Skills & Experience

Demonstrable TIG welding experience on the materials listed above.

Strong background in structural aircraft fitting and modification.

Ability to interpret technical drawings and work with minimal supervision.

Attention to quality, compliance, and safety procedures.

Effective communicator and team player.

Able to thrive in a high-standard, time-sensitive aerospace production environment.
