Job description


Our client, a leading company in the marine industry, is currently seeking a Head of Support Services to join their team in Poole. This role is integral to ensuring statutory compliance, achieving high efficiency levels within the Support Services Department, and overseeing multiple departments to support the production programme. The Head of Support Services will report to the Production Director and play a key role in the management of resources, compliance, and risk across the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set the financial goals for the department and drive the team to achieve them using an innovative approach
  • Manage resources in line with the business plan, forecast headcount, and balance conflicting priorities
  • Maintain the risk, health, safety, and marine strategy to ensure compliance with all statutory provisions
  • Support the business in providing the facilities, transportation, resources, and equipment needed to meet business needs
  • Work with insurers to manage employer's liability insurance, including investigating and processing claims
  • Ensure continuous improvement on all matters relating to Health, Safety, and Environmental performance
  • Support senior management in identifying, managing, measuring, monitoring, and reporting significant risks
  • Formulate good working relationships across the company and support the embedding of the Risk Framework

Job Requirements:

  • Significant experience in managing departments within risk, safety, security, quality or environmental management structures
  • Sound understanding and experience with ISO standards such as ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 within a construction or boat building company
  • PC literate with proficiency in IT-based systems
  • Qualified in Health, Safety Management and Risk Management (IOSH and NEBOSH), ideally educated to degree level
  • Approachable, methodical, self-motivated, with strong business operational focus
  • Proven management skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively
