Job description

Our client, a renowned player in the automotive sector, is seeking a Design Engineer - Value Engineering to join their team in Hinckley. This is a permanent position based at Factory 2, where the successful candidate will be tasked with delivering enhanced value across various Triumph model platforms through design optimisation, re-sourcing, and supplier negotiations. This role offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate across the business to implement Value Engineering initiatives within Powertrain, Chassis, and Electrical components.

Key Responsibilities:

• Delivering engineering solutions to support continuous improvement in the value of current production and development motorcycles.
• Meeting business-defined time, cost, quality, and specification requirements.
• Working within cross-functional teams to identify and define opportunities, followed by timely and robust engineering solutions.
• Managing technical engagement with international suppliers to develop and agree on component specifications.
• Communicating and collaborating across the entire supply/value chain.
• Creating and maintaining detailed project plans to ensure deliverables are met.
• Delivering against Key Performance Indicators related to Cost, Time, Quality, and Specification targets.
• Challenging established processes and procedures to maximise departmental effectiveness.
• Escalating concerns, risks, and issues through the appropriate channels.
• Undertaking additional projects and ad-hoc duties as required.

Job Requirements:

• Experience as a BAE-Mechanical designer or engineer within an automotive environment.
• Proficiency in Value Management and Mechanical Engineering principles.
• Proficient in Microsoft Packages including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.
• High technical approach with an emphasis on attention to detail.
• Ability to collaborate effectively on technical judgement and work independently as experience increases.
• Proven ability to think ahead and consider risk mitigations, focusing on robust and proven solutions.
• Previous experience in a value engineering-related role is desirable.
• MEng or BEng in an Engineering-related subject is preferred.
