Join a Team That's Advancing Patient Care Through Innovation

We are seeking an experienced R&D Engineer to join our Ashford-based team, contributing to the design and development of cutting-edge medical devices. This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of technical projects, lead small engineering teams, and make a tangible impact in the medical field.

About the Role

As an R&D Engineer, you will independently lead and execute engineering activities across the full product lifecycle-from concept through to design, testing, and launch. You will work on components, systems, and processes associated with medium-to-large-scale projects, applying advanced technical knowledge and guiding less experienced engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of innovative medical device components and systems
  • Conduct and oversee testing, troubleshooting, and validation activities
  • Prepare high-quality technical documentation and design files (including CAD)
  • Ensure compliance with internal SOPs and external regulatory requirements
  • Mentor and support junior engineers on the team
  • Interface with cross-functional teams (e.g., Manufacturing, Sales, Quality, GPM)

What We're Looking For

Education & Experience:

  • A degree in Engineering (or related discipline); advanced degree preferred
  • 5-8 years of engineering experience, ideally in medical devices or regulated industries
  • Proven ability to independently manage projects and lead technical teams

Technical & Soft Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • High proficiency with CAD tools and design methodologies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong organisational and time-management skills
  • Collaborative, proactive, and quality-focused approach

What We Offer

  • A competitive salary of £50,000
  • A hybrid working model (typically 2 days in the Ashford office)
  • The chance to work in a growing company committed to improving patient outcomes
  • Opportunities for professional development and career progression
  • A supportive, innovation-driven environment
