Job description

Matchtech are working with a leading contractor in the water sector who is seeking an experienced Lead Planner to join their team on a permanent basis on projects based in Kent.

This role offers a hybrid working arrangement with three days per week on site in Kent, supporting key projects within the UK water industry.

This is a critical role that requires a strong understanding of MEICA (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control & Automation) systems, and demonstrable experience within the water sector, ideally with exposure to AMP (Asset Management Programme) frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage, and maintain detailed project schedules for water infrastructure and MEICA-related projects.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure schedules are realistic and aligned with project goals.
  • Monitor project progress, identify delays, and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure planning and reporting processes align with company and client standards.
  • Provide leadership to junior planners and contribute to the continuous improvement of planning practices.

Skills/experience/qualifications

  • Proven experience as a planner in the UK water industry, ideally within an AMP framework.
  • Senior/Lead experience desirable - must be able to hit the ground running
  • Strong MEICA project experience desirable
  • Proficiency with industry-standard planning software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project, Asta).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Based within commutable distance to Kent or willing to travel 3 days per week to site.
  • Experience delivering complex utility or infrastructure projects.
