Onsite in Cambridgeshire


Our client, a leading organisation in the automotive sector, is currently seeking an Engine Systems Engineer to join their team on a contract basis. The successful candidate will work on various electronic system projects to develop systems that meet both regulatory and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the definition of the system architecture and related diagrams and schematics
  • Assist in selecting suitable electronic components
  • Participate in failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) and validation activities for the electronic system and components
  • Provide technical support to queries related to pinouts, schematic questions, and software functionality
  • Investigate, analyse, and troubleshoot any reported quality issues

Job Requirements:

  • Degree-qualified engineer with experience in systems engineering activities for the development of electronic engine, machine or automotive control systems, or equivalent qualifications and relevant experience
  • Experience in the integration of systems for fault finding and electronic system design
  • Ability to collect and develop detailed electronic-related customer requirements
  • Experience defining electronic features and coordinating their development with other teams
  • Performing system verification testing of components and software features
  • Participation in FMEA development processes
  • Understanding of internal combustion engines and their control mechanisms
  • Strong ability to build and maintain working relationships within a global team

Desirable Experience:

  • Off-highway electronic control system development or comparable experience with automotive, marine, or military vehicle control systems
  • Knowledge of engine systems related to electronic systems, such as fuel and air systems
  • Experience with requirements management tools like DOORS or Teamcenter
  • Proficiency with Controller Area Networks (CAN), Vector CANape, and CANalyzer tools
  • Proficient in using oscilloscopes for development purposes
  • Familiarity with product structuring and configuration tools like Siemens Teamcenter Engineering or Creo
  • PPAP or FMEA facilitator and design validation planning experience
