Contractor Lab Chemist
Location: Titchfield, Hampshire
Contract Type: PAYE or Umbrella (to June 2026)
We're looking for an experienced Lab Chemist to join our team on a contract basis until June 2026. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work within a highly regulated, technical environment supporting critical chemical and metal finishing processes.
Hours of Work
Monday to Thursday: 7:30 am-4:15 pm
Friday: 7:30 am-11:30 am
Contract Details
PAYE Rate: £25.00-£30.00 per hour + 33 days paid annual leave
Or PAYE (incl. holiday pay): £28.63-£34.56 per hour
Equivalent Umbrella: £33.22-£39.86 per hour
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct chemical analysis of metal finishing baths, ensuring compliance with specifications
- Develop and optimise metal finishing processes, producing technical reports to support decisions
- Maintain control measures for legal and regulatory compliance
- Perform periodic testing for corrosion and coating weight specifications
- Manage effluent plant operation and maintenance in line with legal standards
- Lead root cause investigations and implement preventative actions
- Create and update Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions
- Act as site technical expert in metal finishing and chemical processing
- Support Nadcap audits and liaise with suppliers on technical queries
Requirements
- A-Level Chemistry and Maths essential
- Further Chemistry or Metal Finishing qualification desirable
- Theoretical knowledge of key branches of chemistry
- Minimum 2 years' experience in laboratory and analytical techniques
- Right to work in the UK and eligible for ITAR-controlled work
