Civil/Structural Engineer

The Job

Primary Job Responsibilities:
* Interprets and verifies industry standards, guidelines and codes for project deliverables
* Schedules and monitors work plans consistent with prime contract requirements
* Leads technical discussions with customer and supplier
* Reviews and coordinates documents from other disciplines, customer and outside agencies
* Coordinates reviews with other disciplines and departments
* Prepares and presents reports for formal studies
* Coordinates constructability reviews
* Coordinates technical issues with field and physically assists construction in field
* Initiates and optimizes cost effective system design
* Participates in detail technical review of work processes (both 2D and 3D)
* Performs design review of 3D data base and models
* Prepares standard discipline deliverables including standard work processes and tools
* Familiar with all corporate design guides and standards relevant to discipline
* Understands standard engineering work planning, scheduling, and cost estimating
* Understands standard contract requirements and scope as they relate to discipline work
* Knows technical issues related to discipline and how to discuss with third parties (customer, suppliers, and
* Familiar with methods of procurement, including bid and evaluation process
* Knows how to prepare standard discipline deliverables, including standard work processes and tools
* Obtain PE in at least one state, province or country
* Understand and implement customer requirements consistent with the contract
* Is willing to identify, confront, and resolve technical conflicts
* Delegates tasks to less experienced members of a team to more fully utilize his/her own time more
* Know the technical requirements of the project, implement them and help others to accomplish the same
* Report how the design quantities and costs compare with the estimated quantities and costs for designs
* Participate in Continuous improvement and other improvement initiatives by assembling and evaluating
data and recommending improvements
* Civil o Knows how to design advanced site works, structures and foundations of challenging complexity
* Structural o Knows how to perform advanced dynamic and seismic analyses and related structural design

Training and Experience:
* Recognized bachelors degree in engineering or technical field from an accredited college or university
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
* Professional Engineering certification in related discipline preferred
* 7 years experience
