A start-up renewable energy company in Africa, is looking for a strong and dynamic COO to join their team and play an integral role in their success across Africa.


At least 5 years industry knowledge on the back of at least 10 years of experience in executive management, covering strategy, Operations, Sales, Finance, Projects and Technology

The Job

Detailed Job description:

Revenue Generation:

  • Grow connections across all verticals
  • Open up new markets
  • Look at areas to extend the value chain
  • Establish an efficient sales engagement process


  • Establish budget alongside the CFO
  • Implement cost efficient systems
  • Control cost during project implementation
  • Implement cost controls and record mechanisms to track costs
  • Ensure that all agreements pass pre-agreed financial gates
  • Meter and measure performance of implemented systems against expected yields

Strategic partnerships:

  • Negotiate vendor finance and vendor market support
  • Strenghten engagements with external partners in order to improve commitment and time to market
  • Build relationship with finance institutes

Brand awareness:

  • Market entry in new markets and build the company brand
  • Develop go-to-market solutions, in line with targeted market needs
  • Maximise brand exposure within selected channels in line with Marketing strategy


  • Build a robust sales, channel and distribution organisation supported by partners and in-house engineering
  • Establish a Program Management Framework and capability to have a clear view on the portfolio of projects
  • Implement an operational framework in line with best practices and to maximise annuity grow
  • Ensure the compliance to all necessary compulsory requirements
  • Ensure robust operational platforms, covering staff, processes and tools
  • Establish a monitoring platform across installed base, to pro-actively measure performance against proposed yields

Employee engagement:

  • Ensure employee engagement, retention and development
  • Identify key gaps in skills profile and fill with identified resources
