The Job

Position: Estimation Manager (Solar International Business)
Location: Phoenix, AZ
Education: Bachelors in Engineering
Experience Required:8-12 years Position Type: Full Time
Solar PV(DC & AC system), LT, HT, EHT Substation/Switchyard/Transmission- Electrical system design engineering of EPC projects. (solar project experience in the geography of posting is a must)

Position Description
The Estimator will work with the Technical team and develop comprehensive, detailed, project
capital cost estimates in support of renewable energy projects. Estimations will be based upon latest
available cost information and data from internal and external sources and will be presented in a
suitable format for use by senior management.
Main Accountabilities:
  • Lead Estimating area in preparing, developing, maintaining, and updating project capital cost
  • Estimates, budgets, forecasts, and cash flows
  • Work with internal project stakeholders to gather all relevant information to prepare accurate project estimates including Engineering, Construction, Project Management, Development, Procurement, Origination, and other departments as needed
  • Develops tools to enhance estimation and budget tracking competencies and ability to produce accurate estimates in a timely manner
  • Challenge budget line-items as needed with the objective of achieving the most optimized estimates
  • Review and analyze existing work breakdown structures utilized in estimates and budgets for optimization and improvements
  • Create and maintain unit-cost database and published cost indices to prepare estimates
  • Prepare and price value-analysis options and suggestions
  • Prepare comparison of current and previous estimates and actualized project costs
  • Develop and maintain intelligence regarding trends in cost of services, materials, and commodities in the various regions in which the company operates
  • Creates and maintains project schedules and cash flows related to projects.
  • Creates and maintains project tracking tools and reports for senior management
  • Negotiations with vendors and sub-contractor for cost optimization
  • Additional duties as required
Position Requirements
Minimum qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering,
* 8 -12 years of experience in the energy business in an analytical, estimation, budgeting
* Strong knowledge of currently available estimating software and tools, Microsoft Office and
* Project software, Excel modelling techniques
Behavioral Requirements:
* Strong initiative and self-starter who can take on, own, and drive unstructured tasks with little
supervision
* Estimation and budgeting experience on large capital projects
* Ability to prepare estimates and budgets with a high degree of accuracy
* Ability to work well both independently and as part of an interdependent team
* Ability to quickly learn the company's existing estimating/budgeting and scheduling systems,
and to provide recommendations to enhance the current process
* Ability to quickly understand the basics of a variety of subjects relating to Solar energy, including
civil and electrical engineering designs and detailed drawings, purchase orders and change
orders, construction related processes, environmental and cultural studies, transmission issues,
taxes, finance and energy sales
* Strong interpersonal and multi-tasking skills
* Strong analytical and quantitative skills
* Understanding of basic financial principles (IRR, NPV, Depreciation, etc)
* High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
* Ability to travel domestically and internationally with short notice
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
