The Job

Our client is a large multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy that is looking for an Assistant Bridge Engineer to join their team in London.
Bridges & Civil Structures Team:

Our Bridges and Civil Structures team is involved in some of the UK’s most high profile, complex and stimulating projects that are diverse and technically demanding. We have an enviable reputation in the delivery of some of the UK’s and indeed the world’s most prestigious and challenging projects. Our current client portfolio includes the Department of Transport, Transport for Scotland, the Highways Agency, Transport for London, Borough Councils, Civil Engineering Contractors and International Governments, for whom we undertake the planning, design and supervision of civil engineering and transport solutions to exceed our client’s requirements.

As a global multi-disciplinary company we also work closely with our other sectors and regions around the world. Based in the UK the Bridges team supports all sectors and regions on bids and the delivery of high profile projects

Minimum Academic Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering

Essential Experience:

• Demonstrable experience in the design of bridges and or civil structures

• Experience in the analysis and design of bridges and civil structures in concrete and or steel

• Knowledge of bridge design codes used in the UK

• Excellent written English with experience of writing reports

• Experience and ability to be an integral part of a design team

Desirable Experience:

• Design of bridges to Eurocodes, BS and ASSHTO standards

• Experience of managing the production of drawings

• Experience of inspecting structures

• Working towards Chartered Status via a formal training agreement

• Experience of working on major infrastructure projects in the UK and overseas

• Marine civils experience

Duties & Responsibilities:

Reporting to a Senior or Principal Engineer, you will provide technical support into assigned projects ensuring successful delivery of technically challenging Bridge / Structures schemes for UK and internationally based projects

Responsibilities of this role may include, but are not limited to:

• Undertaking and bridge inspections and assessments taking responsibility for production of reports for clients

• Undertaking feasibility studies and producing options reports

• Undertaking preliminary and detailed designs of bridges and civil structures

• Managing delivery of drawings via CAD technicians in the UK and our team in India

• Undertaking analysis of Bridge Structures in 2D and 3D using the latest modelling software

• Working as part of a small team or a larger multi-disciplinary team

• Building strong relationships with clients internal and external

• Seeking Chartered Status via a formal training agreement or other route, you will be assigned a mentor and or Supervising Professional as required and provide all the support required to meet your potential

• Carry out any other tasks as directed by your Line Manager
