EIA Technical Director
Our client is seeking an EIA Technical Director to strengthen and develop the Environment business across the UK, as well as taking responsibility for managing the relationship with key clients and contributing to business development.
The Technical Director will be responsible for providing strategic direction to establish and expand the company's EIA and Planning offer whilst delivering profitable business growth. The individual would have a strong technical background in EIA, Public Inquiry experience and have extensive experience of acting as technical lead for clients on varied and complex projects. The role is client facing and the individual will need to be flexible, adaptive and confident engaging with customers and have proven skills in effective communication and persuasion. The Technical Director will play a central role in business development across E&D to help deliver profitable growth as well as providing support and coaching to develop other members of the team.
*Provide technical direction for EIA and Planning in the key areas of: Project Delivery (programme/budget/quality/compliance) Expert technical and strategic Staff mentoring, training and skills development
*Apply efficient business management practices including proactive management of future workload (medium and long term), reporting through a combination of forecasting, pipeline orderbook and resourcing tools.
*Work closely with and provide expert professional advice to clients; building relationships and raising the profile of the Environment & Development business.
*Identify business development opportunities and develop such offerings by leading bid initiatives and driving recruitment and team development
*Champion the company messages, promote cross-office and cross-team working to provide clients with access to a range of services;
*Take a lead role in business planning, marketing, bidding and winning of new work
*Develop efficient working practices to provide industry-leading, best value services to our clients
*Lead by example to motivate and empower, support the development of staff, provide project-related opportunities to develop skills and provide team-wide framework for training and mentoring to develop others;
*Raise the business profile by networking, attending conferences and actively marketing skills and services
*Champion corporate health & safety, environment and quality standards
*Work may require travel in the UK or abroad.
Suitable candidates will possess -
Appropriate Degree in EIA and/or Planning / relevant Post graduate qualification. Member of the IEMA.
Knowledge & Experience:
*Relevant practical experience of management, design development and delivery of a range of Environmental assessment projects.
*Creative and technical design capabilities based on an evidence based approach.
*Demonstrably good commercial awareness, excellent communication and client liaison skills.
*Track record in work winning, client relationship management and bid writing
*An up-to-date knowledge of Environment legislation and good practice.
