Technical Publications Manager - Defence

This is an immediate requirement for a Technical Publications Manager or Lead Technical Author with experience of leading the design and development of defence sector documentation.

A great opportunity has arisen for a Technical Publications Manager to work for a leading systems integration company in the South Wales area. This Technical Publications Manager role will be both leading and managing the technical publications team of authors and illustrators for a new £330 million contract.

JOB DESCRIPTION & REQUIREMENTS

Responsibilities for this Lead Technical Author role

- Ensuring schedule adherence, prioritisation of workloads for authoring team
- Development and delivery of the AJAX (SV) CSDB databases
- Management of the Technical Publications team and suppliers to ensure coherence and consistency across the AJAX Tech Pubs
- Production of progress reports and metrics for ILS manager
- Chair the Technical Publication Working Group Meetings
- Analysis of OEM Technical Publication deliverables, including DMRL and Data Modules
- Delivery of the Technical Publication Programme(s) to schedule and budget.

Requirements for this Lead Technical Author role

- HNC and considerable experience in the Technical Authoring domain with solid experience as a Tech. Pubs Manager
- A thorough knowledge of:
o Def Stan 00-60, ASD S1000D, ILOG environment (EAGLE/Provisioning Manager/CSDB for S1000D), PTC Arbortext Editor, Simplified Technical English (STE)
- An understanding of ASD S2000M (including the NATO Codification process).
- A working knowledge of the Aspect.cs IP software package
- An understanding of current MoD (Tri-service) maintenance strategies.
- Hold or be capable of holding security clearance up to the level of SECRET.
- Willing to travel within the UK and possibly overseas.
- Must be computer literate with a working knowledge of MS Office
- Must have good communication skills, both verbal and written

Desirable:
- APMP or Prince 2 qualifications
- Familiar with relevant Defence Standards, Military Standards and EC Directives
- Ability to work under pressure in a complex and rapidly changing environment
