Introduction

Real-time embedded systems Engineer, required for a growing Automotive company in Kent. You will help them solve vehicle propulsion challenges to make combustion, hybrid and electric vehicles more efficient and better to drive.

The Job

Purpose of Role:

To develop real-time safety critical embedded software, to execute within a passenger car or commercial vehicle Electronic Control Unit, controlling the Powertrain or after-treatment equipment.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

The main duties of the role will consist of one or more of the following:

  1. Developing validation tests for electrical bench, dSpace HiL and vehicle.
  2. Designing system diagnostics and CAN communication specifications.
  3. Capturing and analysing customer requirements.
  4. Designing control algorithms and strategies (using Matlab\Simulink) for autocode generation of production intent code.
  5. Calibrating sensor interfaces and diagnostic strategies.
  6. Calibrating servo controls and regulators.
  7. Supporting system and hardware FMEA.
  8. Provide expertise for investigations and problem solving activities.

Essential/desirable requirements:

Educated to HND or degree level in an engineering discipline.

Experience required:

    1. Demonstrable industry related experience of developing real time embedded control systems.
    2. Understanding of Matlab-Simulink blocks
    3. Use of CCP calibration tools (e.g.. INCA, ATI Vision, CANape )

Advantageous Experience:

    1. Experience of defining and developing control strategies in Matlab
    2. Understanding of Powertrain sensors and actuators (analogue, digital, H-Bridge, CAN based, SENT)
    3. Understanding of CAN, UDS and J1939 protocols
    4. Understanding of C code, ASCII and hexadecimal
    5. Experience of working for a Tier 1 supplier in the automotive industry.
    6. Experience of a production intent auto-coding environment.
    7. CAN Tools (e.g.. CANAlyzer)
    8. ClearCase (or similar configuration management tool)
    9. ISO26262 awareness

      3. Excellent attention to detail
      4. Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines when required
      5. The ability to prioritize and organize own workload
