The Job

Job Summary

Reporting to the Head of Control and Electronics, you will have responsibility for execution of work packages and tasks within the company's main projects, relating to the design, development, prototyping and testing of electrical and control systems for our products and technology. This will require a mix of practical and analytical skills, and may include working off-site and with customers.

Responsibilities will include:

  1. Defining system specifications based on high level requirements
  2. Developing control and electronic systems, subsystems and components
  3. Planning and undertaking test and development exercises and cycles
  4. Project ownership and responsibility
  5. Managing own day to day activities and reporting progress
  6. Supplier interface and management

Person Specification

Essential:

  1. Further education qualification in engineering (electrical, mechatronic or systems), either at Graduate, Postgraduate or HND/HNC level
  2. Experience with CAN bus system design, development and testing
  3. Embedded systems development
  4. ECU Calibration
  5. Simulink for control systems
  6. Electrical systems projects at a practical level from specification/requirements through to development and testing of proven prototype systems
  7. Working knowledge of control system strategies (e.g. closed loop, PID, state machines)
  8. Working knowledge of sensors, actuators and interfaces
  9. Computer literacy including MS Excel

Advantageous:

  1. Experience of engine, vehicle, renewables or power generation
  2. MATLAB, Stateflow, Solidworks Electrical software experience
  3. J1939, CCP, networking protocols and topologies
  4. Project management experience
  5. Engine control system and software development
