The Job

The main objective for the Engineering Manager is :

  • To lead and manage the Engineering Team
  • To lead and manage Development activitities to gain new business awards
  • To lead and manage Launch milestones to achieve 100% on time launch

To lead and manage ECR process

Leadership

  • Lead interface with Operations and Quality internally
  • Lead Development meeting to ensure team are focused on the correct priorities to gain new business awards
  • Allocate resource and budget to each program at Team Feasibility sign off
  • Define Product Strategy by program incorporating Product Architecture
  • Track and hold the team accountable for hitting key Launch milestones such as Design Freeze, Color, Test, QR approval - 100% on time launch including PPAP
  • Track ECR projects and ensure feasibility
  • Ensure documentation is updated and organized for all programs following the Development Process Flow
  • Escalate issues with urgency to the cross functional team

Upgrade talent and increase bench strength

KEY SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • +10 years experience in management positions in automotive industry (textile knowledge not required)
  • Excellent Management and Leadership skills
  • Ability to work within a team environment and help drive results
  • Ability to build, manage, develop and motivate a team
  • Strong Program Management skills
  • Excellent Time Management and Organisation
  • Strong Delegator
  • Ability to Multi-task
  • Assertiveness with an ability to say no and push back on non value add tasks
  • Work Smarter not Harder mindset
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel,
  • Work to a high level of accuracy with attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills - able to convey concepts and visions to a wide range of audiences
  • Position requires some global travel as required
  • Reduce waste/scrap and increase the number of right first time trials
  • Launches should be at plant target % for quality

Efficiency

  • Ensure Trials plan is issued weekly and adhered to daily
  • Reduce Lead time on trials to give Customers the optimum service
  • Ensure On time delivery of samples >95%
  • Manage inventory of face, lam, yarn, foam, backings to the agreed level
  • Decrease workload and increase efficiency for team via elimination of non-value add activities and knocking down barriers to success

Innovation

  • Stream line systems to eliminate non-value add activities

Daily

  • TSR sign off meeting
  • Team Feasibility meeting
  • Barometer review and report actions plan to improve
  • Planning (re-plan misses, OTD)
  • LPMP engineering actions are updated
  • QR raising and processing on track
  • Cost BOMs complete <48 hours

Weekly

  • Dev meeting chair
  • Launch meeting chair
  • ECR meeting chair
  • Planning/OTD meeting
  • P Saves track
  • Inventory control

Monthly

  • Metrics report
  • Monthly report
  • DFMEA review with Technical Manager
  • Lessons Learned feedback to DFMEA

Quarterly
