Our client are a major Tier 1 supplier to the Automotive Sector. This role requires the Quality Engineer to be involved with the product from an early stage and ensure customer quality requirements are met and understood.
SUMMARY - MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:
The role requires the applicant to have a strong knowledge of New Product Introduction (NPI). The applicant must be able to demonstrate knowledge of Project Quality Planning and be familiar with such concepts as APQP, PFMEA and the formulation of Quality Plans and Work Instructions. They are required to be involved with the product from an early stage and ensure customer quality requirements are met and understood. A strong knowledge of composites will be considered a distinct advantage as the role is primarily to see composite components and painted assemblies through to production readiness.
KEY TASKS IN THIS ROLE:
o Review of customer requirement on bid specifications, CAD Data, Drawings and Associated Specifications
o Participation in APQP and ensuring Quality aspects are addressed.
o Driving PFMEA with input from relevant parties.
o Using PFMEA to formulate Control Plans and Work Instructions
o Reviewing and supporting process and product development to ensure requirements are met.
o Co-ordinating measurement activity of product to present to customer such as ISIR, Cap Studies and MSA.
o Ensuring Gauging and Fixtures are present and correct for ongoing production.
o Interfacing with customer on measurement reports and appearance approvals.
o Attending Run @ Rates
o Working with Metrology and Jigs and Fixtures to ensure measurement of initial samples is addressed and in-process validations are addressed.
o Working closely with Quality Control to support production launch and ensure first production runs are free from issues and conveying in-process verification requirements for production parts
Skills & Experience:
o Knowledge of composites (including trim, machine, bond, assembly and paint)
o Experience of Core Tools with particular emphasis on:-
o Control Plans
o Good Knowledge of IATF 16949
o Strong Automotive background with experience of project introduction and the various project milestones.
o Product and Process Auditing experience (ISO, AS9100 or IATF).
o Good computer literacy in particular all MS Office programs.
