Southern Water is currently looking for a Monitoring Scientist to join the Compliance and Asset Resilience team based in Falmer. This is an interesting and challenging opportunity that would suit candidates with lab based and sampling backgrounds.
This role consists of 60% field work which include conducting on site reviews of our online monitoring equipment for the purposes of fulfilling the company's commitment to the Hazrev programme and ISO17025. You will also be required to audit the Sampling Team as part of the companies commit to maintaining the ISO17025 accreditation. You will also attend and audit the company's reservoirs and present your finding at monthly District risk Meetings. The other 40% of your time will be spent in the office where you will be writing up your audits and engaging in some water quality data reports.
You will also be required to take part in a one in six standby rota where one week in every six you will be required to work on call organising water quality sampling for water quality breaches and any water quality incidents that may arise.
To be successful in this role ideally you will have lab based experience and or sampling experience in either a water or wastewater laboratory and a good understanding of ISO Standard and ideally ISO Audit knowledge. A good understanding of water regulations is also desirable.
The successful candidate will ideally be educated to degree level in the field of either environmental Science, chemistry or engineering; or will have equivalent relative experience. Why work for Southern Water?
