Marine Engineer (Mechanical)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for Marine Engineers, based in London.
You will be involved in the maintenance of my clients vessels as they come in for servicing on a nightly basis.
Overview: To service and maintain all mechanical systems on board my client's vessels. Ensure all defects are reported in-line with company process.
Adhere to all Health and Safety regulations promoting safe work practices within the team.
Perform vessel daily checks, planned maintenance tasks and management of vessel defects across the fleet.
Carry out person to person handovers with vessel masters when the vessels are berthed of an evening. Reviewing and challenging vessel defects reported, for effective understanding of the defect leading to efficient rectification and closure.
Flexible working hours on a rotation pattern of 4 nights and 4 off, supported with additional working hours where required. Review vessel defects to ensure the correct prioritorisation are allocated consistent with company process for effective resolution.
Work as part of a full engineering team, ensuring that all work carried out has the appropriate job reports are completed for a handover to the Senior Engineer.
Maintain a safe and tidy working environment for the individual and the wider team.
Ensure that all equipment used is clean and serviceable when returned to the correct location at the end of each shift.
Ensure that you comply with all Health and Safety regulations and safe working practice as required by current legislation and the Company's Health and Safety Policy and practices.
Undertake any other relevant duties or reasonable request as requested by any member of the senior management team.
Key skills required:
Relevant experience of working in high pressure environments whilst maintaining high levels of safety and maintenance practices (returning boats to service quickly and reliably).
Effective communicator both written and verbal communication.
Be committed and flexible in your approach to work
Be highly self-motivated with the ability to work without supervision but also enjoy working as part of a team
Candidates with experience on any of the following high speed engines would be of particular interest to my client:
MTU, MAN, Scania and/or Caterpillar
Also candidates who have worked on pilot boats/work boats would be of interest.
This role is permanent night shift.
Post code - E14
Starting salary - £32,877 rising to £38,678 after 3 months probation. However, the role will attract an night shift uplft which will be discussed at application stage.
