The Job

We have a vacancy for an Airworthiness Engineer within the Typhoon Independent Safety Assurance team which is part of the BAE Systems - Air, International Capability and Assurance organisation.

The main responsibilities are to provide Independent Safety Assurance (ISA) of the Typhoon aircraft including its constituent systems and equipment. This will involve gaining a good understanding of the way in which the aircraft, its systems and equipment operate and are operated to allow the assurance of product safety.

A variety of different safety assurance techniques can be used to determine whether particular design solutions for the airborne product are appropriate and safe. Responsibilities include assessment of safety documentation throughout the engineering lifecycle and where necessary advise. Knowledge of the relevant safety standards and safety techniques, including Military Regulatory Publications, Fault Tree Analysis, Goal Structured Notation and Zonal Hazard Analysis would be advantageous.

The ISA team are entrusted to provide independent safety assurance / assessment of the Typhoon aircraft and to be resilient to commercial or timescale pressures. Strength of character, good communication skills and resilience under pressure are required to maintain appropriate independence under challenging conditions.
