An exciting contract opportunity has arisen for experienced Control System & Simulation engineer to join an innovative automotive start-up. Successful candidates will have proven Transmission Control & Algorithm development experience.

The Job
The successful candidate can expect a significant amount of project ownership from the outset and will take responsibility for the application engineering of our AMT software platform onto a customer application .
Whilst primarily an application project, there will be a significant amount of bespoke software development and plant modelling for a new electro mechanical shift system.
Other duties typically expected of this role will include:
* Requirements capture
* CAN communication database development
* Algorithm development
* Plant modelling
* MIL based desktop calibration
* Software testing and sign-off

Essential experience for this role would include:
* Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow for plant modelling and software autocoding
* Demonstrable experience in working to full software V-Cycle
* Working with requirements and contributing to requirements capture
* Appreciation of Functional Safety
* Broad understanding of powertrain and vehicle operation
* Detailed understanding of transmission system design and operation
* Technical knowledge of main elements for electric/ hybrid vehicle powertrains
* Used to working in a small team - adopts a collaborative and open working ethos and also demonstrates the ability to perform critical reviews
Desirable experience for this role would include:
* Development of transmission control strategies in Simulink
* Development of vehicle control strategies in Simulink
* Use of calibration tools such as CANape and INCA
* MIL, SIL and HIL validation methods
* Specific exposure to automotive functional safety (IS026262)
* Domain knowledge of vehicle propulsion systems
* Working with configuration management and change management systems
* Experience with Pi-lnnovo OpenECU
Skills for this role would include:
* Developing complex simulation models utilising Matlab/ Simulink / Stateflow
* Developing complex control strategies utilising Matlab/ Simulink / Stateflow
* Developing safety related control systems utilising IS026262 methodologies
- Supporting the generation of system and software level requirements
- Realising control strategies onto rapid prototyping hardware
- System validation using Hardware in the Loop (HIL) facilities
- Producing technical documentation, reports and specifications to support project needs
* Delivering technical assistance and proposal content into the business development team in support of proposals and new business development
* Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, able to convey deeply technical content to audiences with differing technical ability
* Have well-developed analytical skills - rigorous but pragmatic

Essential qualifications for this role would include:
* Relevant engineering degree with a minimum of 2:1 (e.g. Electrical/ Electronic engineering, systems engineering, automotive engineering, applied mathematics or similar)
Desirable qualifications for this role would include:
* Higher degree (relevant M.Sc., Eng D or Ph.D.)
