Automated Test Equipment Engineer - Space Sector

Space is a growing sector. Each day more and more Satellite communications are taking place. Processors bandwidth is key to the growth of these sector and this is where you come in.

A UK based Satellite company is looking for an ATE Engineer to join their digital processing team. Your role will be to design and development new Automated Test Equipment used in the testing of these new devices. They are already developing some of the highest performing digital communication payload equipment in the world but they still want to be better.

This role comes with a great basic salary and the potential of having up to 50 days holiday a year via the companies holiday purchase scheme.

JOB DESCRIPTION & REQUIREMENTS

Responsibilities for this Test Engineer role

- Lead and oversee the design, development and validation of test system (hardware and software) to meet the challenging demands of testing digital equipments destined for space applications
- Work with heritage test systems and commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) technology to create an automated test system that meets the demands of verifying product requirements
- Deliver a complex "test solution" including hardware, software, test reports, procedures, test scripts and results analysis.
- Work within a dedicated test-system team and interact closely with product engineers and project managers to deliver testing to the cost, schedule and quality expectations.

Requirements for this Test Engineer role

- Software design/architecture experience (language skills to include C/C++ and scripting languages such as Tcl/Python), ideally with some application within a test and measurement environment
- Strong understanding in RF test and measurement equipment, being familiar with their operation, control and automation (e.g. spectrum analysers, AWGs, VNAs)
- Experience of hardware/software integration testing
- Strong background of working within a product-focused project team
- Delivering technical reports (test plans, design documents, test procedures)
- Knowledge of digital electronics and digital signal processing
