The Job

The Infrastructure Sub-Division employs personnel involved in a mix of engineering disciplines such as Civil, Structural, Electrical and Geo-Environmental Engineering in addition to Project Management and Health and Safety Consultancy. We work for some of the UKs largest and most important companies such as Network Rail, National Grid, Blackburn Council, Cumbria Council and Highways England. You will form a key part of the team: Undertaking designs, producing contract documents and assisting with the management of Drainage schemes (adoptable and private) for a variety of highway projects.

Essential Qualifications/Experience/Skills
HNC in Civil Engineering (Or Degree in Civil Engineering)
Be a member, or working towards membership, of an appropriate professional institution (ICE, IHT, CIWEM or IHIE).
Experience and demonstrated use of; Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word and Excel); AutoCAD; AutoCAD Civil 3D; Micro Drainage; Causeway Flow.

Desirable Qualifications/Experience/Skills
Engineering Council accredited
Training in specialist design software such as Causeway Flow, Microdrainage, Civil3D etc
The ideal candidate would have recent experience of working in a multi-disciplinary role delivering schemes of a similar nature at a similar level.

The Role:
Your direct report will be the offices Drainage Team Lead and your role will form an integral function to support the Team Lead on projects and aid in the management of resources. You will undertake the preparation of designs, reports, specifications and other deliverables that are appropriate and meet the expected levels of technical excellence and to ensure our quality system is actively applied to all schemes. Where possible using innovation in the delivery of schemes and techniques used to design and construct them. The role encompasses interaction with team members, clients and suppliers on a regular basis so a professional courteous manner is essential. As you will have the opportunity to take greater responsibility and more involvement in the management of both yourself and the projects an enthusiastic, self-motivated and committed work ethic is expected. You should be able to work both under supervision and on your own initiative delivering production information within defined project timescales and able to work to tight deadlines and cope under pressure. The successful candidate will receive training in relevant aspects of the role as deemed necessary.

Responsibilities Guide

Manage other members of the team, including ensuring all work is completed to a high standard and within defined project timescales; Mentor and assist in the development of junior members of the company, undertaking necessary support for day to day working and development of individuals.;
Liaise with members of internal teams and other Capita offices in the development of project information;
Work with company BMS protocols and standards;
Liaise with clients to ensure that the designs are completed in accordance with client brief and requirements with day to day project management of smaller individual schemes;
Oversee and produce typical generic detail drawings for use within the office;
Maintain an excellent knowledge of current standards and best practises.

Prepare drainage designs, specifications and technical reports to a high standard using appropriate software in accordance with client specifications, DMRB and SFA. Previous experience in the UK working to DMRB, SFA and similar guidelines including delivering schemes in accordance with Sections 104 and 185 of the Water Industry Act and Sections 38 of Highway Act.
Use Windes and Civil 3D in delivery of drainage schemes.
Oversee the preparation of project documents by junior members of the team.

Salary negotiable (depending upon experience).
Contractual working hours 37.5 per week with flexible working arrangements.
