Senior Structures Inspector
You'll manage and undertake the inspection of the highway structures which are owned and/or maintained by Buckinghamshire County Council as part of a defined programme, ensuring compliance with programme targets
To prepare and plan the annual schedule of highway structures inspections, making use of collaborative working wherever possible.
To undertake the inspections defined on the highway structures inspection programme (Safety Inspections, General Inspections, Principal Inspections, Special Inspections, Inspections for Assessment, Inspections for Acceptance).
To record the findings and observations of the inspections and produce the inspection reports.
Enter the inspection reports onto the asset management system (BridgeStation) for approval by the Technical Approval Authority.
Produce and record the site environmental awareness and hazard awareness assessments for the sites to be inspected.
To oversee and manage the work of inspection staff / workforce which are working under your control and instructions.
To prepare and review RAMS documents relating to structures inspections. Ensure working practices adhere to the RAMS and the principles of Think Safe Home Safe.
To promote safe working practices in accordance with Health & Safety Policy and to lead by example demonstrating commitment and passion for zero incidents.
To ensure all work is completed in line with corporate and local business objectives.
Ensure all contractual and performance requirements relevant to role are met as well as provide accurate information to enable reporting against.
To attend / assist with network incidents as necessary.
To undertake site surveys and assist with the weak bridge monitoring activities of the team.
To be available to work both overnight and on weekends if the programme dictates.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
At least 5 years' experience of scheduling, planning and undertaking structures inspections including the preparation of inspection reports.
Civil Engineering Degree preferred
Working towards, or completion of, the Bridge Inspector Certification Scheme.
Experience of BridgeStation
Experience in the understanding of Principal Defects, Concrete Defects, Steel Defects, Masonry Defects and Miscellaneous Materials.
Background in construction and maintenance of highway structures and related assets.
Experience of site surveying and weak bridge monitoring.
Confined space trainee.
