New Year - time to find your dream job in F1?! We are looking for a Battery Management Systems Engineer for a leading Motorsport client, to work on simulation, performance and rapid prototyping. Initial two year Fixed-Term Contract.


Battery Systems Development

The Job


You will work within the race car Energy Storage System design project team and be responsible for the battery performance.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Creating the test spec for cell or ESS level validation test
  2. Responsible for cooling system specification, including cells and electronics
  3. Analysing the cell test result and identify the cell character
  4. Making the thermal and electric plant model of cell and adjacent subsystems
  5. Simulate the thermal and electric behaviour of ESS based on energy management request
  6. Update the battery management system
  7. Definition of interfaces between battery and adjacent subsystems
  8. Specification of battery subsystems such as primary safety and monitoring systems
  9. Liaising with other technical groups including mechanical designers, systems, CFD, FEA and suppliers
  10. Race support in the track-side or Mission room if necessary
  11. Any other duties as reasonably request by the Company
  12. Occasional weekend working to support F1 races may feature as part of this role, which will be recompensed.

Knowledge, skills and experience required:

  1. Strong Degree in Engineering or equivalent
  2. Experience designing high power battery systems
  3. Working with and designing thermodynamic systems
  4. Experience with MATLAB for analysis and simulation
  5. Data analysis and simulation of batteries and thermodynamic systems
  6. Good knowledge of standard design patterns, components and industry best practice
  7. Excellent document presentational skills
  8. An adept communicator, be able to build good relationships across all cultures both internally and externally
  9. Fluency in spoken & written English is essential. Competence in Japanese or another European language is desirable
  10. Competence and licence to drive in the UK
  11. Domestic Travel and Travel overseas will be required
  12. PC literate
