A council based in Norfolk are recruiting for a permanent Senior Development Management Officer to join their busy team, you will be brought into the team to manage a caseload of applications including some major applications.

The Job

This Local Authority are based in the heart of Norfolk covering an area of 1,305 kilometres and is one of the largest rural districts in England. This diverse and busy town are looking to appoint a Senior Development Management Officer to work your own caseload including some major planning applications.

About the Job

As the new Senior Development Management Officer at the council you will have the opportunity to manage a personal caseload of all types of applications to include some major applications. The successful candidate will also be required to attend Planning Committee and present applications as and when required.

As the successful Senior Planner you will be asked required to deal with all aspects of the Development Management process to include consultations and negotiations with applicants and agents to obtain quality outcomes within the time constraints set out in the business's contractual arrangements.

The Ideal Candidate and requirements

To be successful for this role you will need to have Significant experience in development management working within a busy team environment delivering a range of planning applications and appeal casework preferably within a Local Authority and a degree in town or urban planning, geography or similar. You must have knowledge of Development Management to be able to carry out the workload.

To be eligible or full Membership of the RTPI if required for this role as well as experience working on planning software such as IDOX or Uniform.

As the successful Senior planner you must have Experience of presenting major planning applications to Planning Committee and experience of acting as expert witness at Planning Inquiries and Hearings including the ability to consider a wide range of complex planning and related issues and balance those issues to make a clear and reasoned judgement.

Salary Range and benefits

As the permanent Senior Development Management Officer at the council you will receive a salary paying up to £36,000 and can enjoy a range of benefits including: flexible working over a full time 37.5 hour week, to Live and work in a beautiful location, close to the thriving city of Norwich as well as the unrivalled Norfolk coastline.

Also the council will cover fees for chartered RTPI membership and Opportunities for training, additional experience and progression within the organisation including the potential for secondments to other sections and the potential to work on wider projects.

Employees of the council receive 23 days annual leave.
