Introduction

Our client is looking for an experienced Highways Project Manager to work on Major schemes to deliver the clients major transport programme, including developing cycling infrastructure in the city and towns, to new carriageways and bridges.

Job Description

  • The Project Management team has particular responsibility for defining and approving the design, and owning & managing the project's risks, budget & programme. A key part of the role is to communicate and liaise with Councillors, stakeholders and members of the public throughout the lifecycle. The role requires an ability to engage with interested parties to resolve issues and deliver optimised improvements.

  • You'll be a pro-active project leader experienced within highways, preferably major transport projects, and working with a project team with a range of specialist skills. Experience of managing project programmes, risk and finance, providing highway design feedback to optimise benefits, and dealing with both internal and external stakeholders.

Job Purpose

  • To support the Group Manager and overseeing the delivery of the major transport projects through design and construction, ensuring successful delivery that offers value for money and achieves targets set.
  • This post holder is responsible for ensuring that all relevant county policies and procedures are adhered to and concerns are raised in accordance with these policies
  • To act as the professional lead for the areas specialism - in project programme and budget management, management of design consultants, design approvals, procurement, stakeholder communication, following corporate governance to release funding.

Qualifications / Experience:

  • Substantial experience working within the specified area of expertise (transport engineering and project management knowledge and experience of leading large complex transport projects)
  • Qualified to chartered or equivalent level as required of the role and member of an appropriate professional body.
  • A Professional qualification Level 6 (e.g. Degree) (or similar qualification in the relevant discipline) OR substantial experience in the relevant specialist field of works.
  • A sound knowledge of the latest legislative requirements as they relate to the identified specialist field.
  • Working towards management and/or professional qualifications
  • Previous experience of working at a similar level.

Working conditions / environment:

  • Currently working from home - due to government restrictions
  • Site visits if and when required (to live highways and construction sites)
  • Communicating feedback to the general public.
  • Ability to fulfil the travel requirements of the role.

Working hours:

  • 37.5 hours a week
  • Monday to Friday
  • Currently working from home - due to government restrictions
  • Flexible working available.
  • A willingness to occasionally work outside of 'normal' office hours if required.

Pay rates:

  • The rate is dependent on candidate experience
  • Weekly pay
