Portfolio Technical Manager
Southern Water is looking for a Portfolio Technical Manager to join their Engineering and Construction Directorate. A senior and influential position in the business you will play a key part in the delivery of Engineering outcomes for AMP7.
Southern Water are currently recruiting a Portfolio Technical Manager to join their busy Engineering & Construction directorate. Currently remote working due to Covid-19 it is anticipated that the role would revert to a split remote and on site presense requirement with support for travel.
Reporting to the Chief Engineer in Engineering and Construction, you will be managing the design management group within Engineering Technical Services and will be responsible for the overall delivery of design outputs and solution selection for the portfolio.
The role requires you to be held accountable as the principle technical point of contact for the Water or Wastewater portfolio and ensure a delivery strategy is developed and implemented, including presenting at Operational and Delivery Partner leadership levels to ensure buy in and advocacy.
You will be responsible for supporting the programme management group in the effective delivery of the work programme to quality, cost and plan including chairing escalation boards to mitigate issues and highlight opportunities. You will own areas of corporate H&S responsibilities as they relate to design activities and will lead on the further development of delivery systems and processes. You'll be active in the rosta of red incident management and will lead on any investigations of issues identified from an incident. You will be the single point of contact for operational or strategic issues raised by the business and be active in the communication of the Southern Water approach to design delivery. You will also hold financial accountability for the Portfolio design activities through the collation of key Management Information from their teams.
To be successful in this role, you must have recognised expertise in technical subjects and delivery to your portfolio area and a proven track record of programme delivery. You will also need design and construction management systems and process experience. Ideally you will have Project and commercial management expertise and be Degree qualified and a member of professional institution.
