Propulsion Service Engineer
A unique and exciting and opportunity has arisen for a Propulsion Service Engineer, based in Glasgow although international travel will be required.
Main Responsibilities: To carry out and/or supervise the stripping down of propulsion products including Shaft-Line's,Thrusters, CPP Hubs and blades of various types and OEM's, Voith Propulsion Units
Liaise with customer on site handling enquiries and technical queries
Ensuring that all timesheets (signed by customer) and expense sheets are submitted on a weekly basis by electronic format through the service engineers tablet
Liaise closely with the Resources Manager and the customer to ensure service deadlines are met
Ensure that all work carried out is to ISO 9001/2000 standard.
Ensure that all activities in the workshop and on-site are carried out in accordance with the site safety rules and in compliance with the Company's Health and Safety obligations
To assist with problem solving and recommendations for repair, must be proficient reading and working with technical drawings and diagrams etc
To adopt a pleasant, adaptable attitude when requested to assist Company staff with any "ad-hoc" duties that may be required
Carry out all tasks in such a way as to ensure maximum (internal and external) satisfaction at all times to the extent that this is within the employee's control
To comply with the company's Quality, Health & Safety and Equal Opportunities policies.
In addition to the above duties and responsibilities, the post holder must be prepared to undertake such additional duties which may result from changing circumstances, but which may not of necessity, change the general character or level of responsibility of the post.
Willingness to travel at short notice and be on call 24/7 including weekends
Ability in due course to communicate well and a lead a team of Shipyard Engineers also attending customer engineering meetings on site in dry docks worldwide
Develop positive customer relations skills
Develop ability to work with minimum supervision
Be able to be part of a team Full responsibility onsite for all works undertaken on behalf of the company
Communication skills and Customer Relations
Language - English
ONC /HNC Engineering or equivalent
Apprenticeship / Marine Qualifications
Experience of propulsion systems an advantage
Full UK driving licence
Salary and hours (including overtime, shift and working away allowances) will be discussed at application stage.
