The Job

Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S) are actively recruiting for a Quality Assurance Engineer, who is really looking to make a difference and become integral to supporting our Armed Forces.

You have the opportunity to work across varied Defence Maritime portfolios, with the Naval Ship Support Team looking for a Quality professional with drive, resilience and ambition to provide Quality Assurance services to teams throughout the equipment and platform acquisition lifecycle.

You will become part of a team of MOD Licensed and Chartered Quality Professionals, whose purpose is to assist customers with assurance that suppliers satisfy contractual quality requirements and improve confidence in suppliers' ability to deliver a quality product. Growing your career in Quality Assurance with DE&S, you will facilitate the delivery of some of the biggest defence programmes in the UK today. You could support the ongoing development of management systems, in terms of policy, process, and procedural development, or be a key player in various assurance activities in accordance with MoD quality policy and further applicable technical arrangements.

Please note that occasional travel to MOD operational sites (e.g. HMNB Devonport, HMNB Portsmouth and HMNB Clyde) will be required.

Responsibilities for Quality Assurance Engineer

Utilising your engineering expertise, you will liaise with both internal and external stakeholders, advising on all aspects of Quality Assurance, including contract activity, identifying risk and mitigating the impact of risk on equipment performance. Other responsibilities will include:
* Communicating with all interested parties, assessing quality performance of suppliers and their ability to meet contractual deliverables
* Providing acquisition, governance and assurance advice, guidance and support
* Determining assurance approaches with suppliers and ensuring technical risks are understood and managed
* Developing Quality surveillance and assurance plans in response to suppliers, supply chains and technical risk
* Conducting and managing the delivery of Quality Assurance surveillance, in support of risk management, supplier oversight/assurance, verification, validation and acceptance

What you will be assessed against

To be successful with your application you must demonstrate that you meet the following essential criteria:
* You will have applied knowledge of Quality Assurance within an acquisition environment, supported by expertise in multiple specialist areas, including Configuration Management
* You will demonstrate a breadth of industry/manufacturing and Quality Assurance experience gained from involvement with multiple projects and domains, including supply chain engagement
* You will hold a minimum of a Level 4 (e.g. HNC) qualification in a relevant Engineering/Science subject or will demonstrate equivalent relevant experience
* You will hold Chartered Quality Professional (CQP) status or will demonstrate the equivalent knowledge, skills and experience

It will also benefit your application if you are able to demonstrate the following desirable criteria:
* Experience of managing a team
* Experience of managing internal and external stakeholders
* Experience of working in metrics team

In addition to the responsibilities above, the following technical competencies and behaviours will be assessed at interview:

* Leadership
* Communicating and influencing
