The Job

At Defence Equipment & Support we have an opportunity for you as a Project Manager to join our Air Defence and Electronic Warfare Systems (ADEWS) Team, based out of RAF Henlow.

In this progressive and dynamic opportunity, you will work on a variety of projects in the area of air defence radar, radios, antennas, structures and radomes and specialist electronic warfare facilities. This role offers a ranging portfolio of projects, including working hand-in-hand with industry, wider projects teams, and alongside our military personnel, on anything from acquisition, modifications and support projects.

You will be supported to develop your skills and experience of leadership and delivering successful outcomes as you further your knowledge in defence.


As a Project Manager your responsibilities will include:

* Accountability for the delivery of project outputs within the performance/cost/time envelope for a semi-complex project, multiple simple projects or complex control accounts
* Ensuring the most cost-effective and efficient means of delivery, whilst mitigating risk and leveraging opportunities
* Leading the construction (through engaging with Project Controls) of the Performance Measurement Baseline for the control account
* Regularly meeting the customer to understanding the objective, requirements and the means of acceptance in line with the Ministry of Defence Operating Model
* Embedding and adhering to all governance and policy and enable the required compliance throughout the team, ensuring appropriate challenge and gain approval to deviate when necessary
* Sustaining and leveraging value through the monitoring and management of contract performance against commitments (product and services) meeting obligations under the contract
* Supporting an open, honest, no blame culture. Actively highlighting failures and shortfalls positively and drawing through learning from experience into the project or control account

To be successful with your application you must demonstrate that you meet the following essential criteria:

* Experience of leading and managing a project management team delivering semi-complex projects
* Experience working across a multi-functional team
