The Job

Proven Project Manager with experience of delivering rail civil projects required for a permanent or contract opportunity based in Central London after lockdown but initially working from home. This is to work on a new build station project in Kent so candidates will be required at times to visit site.

As Project Manager you will have excellent stakeholder management experience , ideally with Councils and Network Rail senior management, and also a proven track record of delivering rail civils projects at GRIP 6-8 stages. You will ideally have worked with the NEC form of contract but general contract management will suffice.

As highlighted before this is either a permanent opportunity paying between £65,000 - £70,000 basic with package or a contract rate of £400 per day. The role has been deemed inside IR35 so the rate quoted is the Gross Umbrella rate (i.e. the rate we pay to the Umbrella company inclusive of ALL employment costs). Please note, the rate paid by the Umbrella will be less, as will a Limited Deemed rate or Agency PAYE rate. Please get in touch to discuss the rates via these different payment vehicles.

Other responsibilities will include:

  • Deliver the project(s) safely to time, cost and quality, in accordance with the Guide to Railway Investment Projects (GRIP), company standards and other specific legislation.
  • Provide a professional, first class, consistent and effective project management service to the clients, including project monitoring and reporting systems in accordance with company standards and guidelines.
  • Be an active participant in the company's Behavioural based safety programme i.e. Safety Scrum.
  • Participate in the development of supply strategies and framework contracts.
  • Control project change, risks and contingency within the project life cycle and provide all cost, contingency and programme details to enable the Sponsor to obtain authorisation for portfolios/projects.
  • Provide a safe working environment in the execution of work directly under the post holder's responsibility, including development of project safety plans and other associated documentation.
  • Assist the Company in discharging its duties under CDM Regulations 2015 (Construction, Design and Management Regulations).
  • Identify training needs in safety, technical and management areas for the personnel reporting to the post holder and contribute to their personal development.
  • Undertake accident investigations when remitted to by the relevant designated competent person.
  • Comply with the Investment Competence Framework.


To be considered for this role candidates must have a proven track record of delivering rail civil projects at GRIP 6-8 stages. You will have excellent stakeholder management experience , ideally with Councils and Network Rail senior management.

In return you will be offered a salary of between £65,000 - £70,000 plus package or, a day rate of £400 per day. The role has been deemed inside IR35 so the rate quoted is the Gross Umbrella rate (i.e. the rate we pay to the Umbrella company inclusive of ALL employment costs).
