Job description
Our client, a leading company in the shipbuilding and marine sector, is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis. This role is based in Haslar and offers the flexibility of hybrid working patterns.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop the capabilities in the areas you are working in and mentor others to improve their knowledge within the wider engineering and technical communities
- Encourage increased collaboration across the wider technical teams and work with other functions to ensure compliance with regulatory, company and project-specific processes
- Utilise opportunities with partner organisations to identify and develop joint technical strategies, supporting Business Development and Sales strategy
- Ensure projects and programmes are conducted in a safe manner, highlighting hazards and potentially unsafe practices
- Apply Governance consistently across technical programmes, acting as a peer or independent reviewer for other projects or programmes
- Combine subject matter expertise and engineering judgment to solve problems, breakdown complex tasks, and execute the planned schedule of work
- Work with the Project Management community to task and control work conducted by technical teams
Job Requirements:
If you have experience with at least one of the following, you will be considered for this role:
- Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of structures and systems
- Design and manufacturing experience with metallic or composite materials
- Analytical analysis of metallic structures and failure
- Knowledge of different metallic manufacturing techniques
- Proficiency in FEA software, ideally Abaqus
- Proficiency in CAD software
Essential Qualifications:
We value difference and do not have a fixed idea when it comes to background or education. If you have a good understanding of engineering (equivalent to a BEng in Naval Architecture or Mechanical Engineering) and experience of structural design to recognised codes of practice in either Maritime or Civil sectors, then we would like to hear from you.
