Job description
This exciting role involves significant work packages of RF/Microwave module development, test, and support, along with offering RF design expertise across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Proactively lead RF equipment development, via internal or sub-contracted work packages
- Maintain RF designs for product improvements or obsolescence
- Oversee derivation of requirements and specifications and their verification & validation
- Provide technical support to supply chain, quality, suppliers, and customers
- Support external RF designs and maintain RF production tests
- Support RF module manufacture, respond to technical issues, and undertake trend and root cause analysis
- Ensure engineering procedures are correctly followed and quality is maintained through design and manufacture
- Generate estimates, plans, and manage small work packages
- Ensure adequate documentation is maintained
- Any other tasks associated with this role
Job Requirements:
Essential:
- Experience in PCB design at microwave frequencies, capable of manipulating schematics and defining/reviewing required layout
- RF component selection; knowledge of high power RF amplifier, low noise amplifiers, limiters, circulators, filters, mixers, and phase locked loop usage
- Understanding of RF system design (e.g. Cascade Analysis)
- Familiarity with RF test equipment (e.g. Spectrum Analysers, Vector Network Analysers)
- Proficient in design for test and design for manufacture
- Experience of a production environment and understanding of processes such as SMT
- Self-motivated and enjoys working within a team
- Good command of written and verbal English
Desirable:
- Familiarity with Altium PCB design software
- Working knowledge of radar or closely related applications (e.g., comms)
- Experience in digital electronics or power supply design
- Understanding of requirements management and/or systems engineering disciplines
- Experience with test automation (e.g. through MATLAB or Python)
- Knowledge of EMC
- Understanding of regulatory compliance (e.g. FCC, ITU or ETSI requirements)
