Job description
Key Responsibilities:
- Creating, maintaining, and managing inventories of ATS, UTC, and RTPI sites and equipment.
- Monitoring and managing the maintenance of ATS (including MOVA and Scoot), UTMC, and RTPI sites within the Borough and nearby local authorities.
- Investigating and preparing ITS schemes related to ATS, UTMC, and RTPI.
- Preparing contract documents, obtaining estimates, and managing procurements.
- Providing specialist technical advice and support internally and externally regarding ATS and UTC.
- Administering project programmes, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
- Supervising technical checking and installation of ATS and UTC equipment and managing contractors on-site.
- Representing the department at meetings with external agencies and providing professional and technical advice.
- Ensuring integration of new engineering techniques, legislation, and best practices into the work.
Job Requirements:
- Experience in traffic signals engineering, specifically in the management of ATS and UTC systems.
- Knowledge of bidding requirements, professional standards, and asset management for ITS assets.
- Ability to design and implement traffic signal systems and provide technical advice in traffic signalisation.
- Understanding of contract preparation, budgeting, financial monitoring and project management.
- Proficient in preparing Project Briefs and managing consultants for traffic management projects.
- Experience with systems such as MOVA, SCOOT, UTMC, and FMS.
- Strong problem-solving skills and experience in liaising with external agencies and local authorities.
