Video: engineering jobs on HS2
High Speed Two (HS2) will be the UK’s new high-speed rail network and is the biggest infrastructure project in Europe. The 351-mile network will connect London to Birmingham and then provide links up to Manchester and Leeds, with the two routes expected to be complete in 2026 and 2033, respectively.
In the video below, Graham Day, rail recruitment specialist at Matchtech, describes what engineering jobs are available on HS2 and the opportunities it offers to develop your career.
“There are going to be 25,000 jobs created in the construction of HS2 alone so it is an exciting prospect for the country as a whole.
As well as in construction, there are opportunities for project and civil engineers, as well as structural 3D modellers. Engineers with project management experience or with a background in Bentley AECOsim are particularly sought after at this stage of the project.
HS2, given its profile, is truly career defining. If you get an opportunity to work on the project; to be able to say you were part of the development, the build and the design of what will be such a huge part of the UK moving forward, will be great for your career.”
