Job description
Job Purpose:
* Designs must meet our design and CDM standards, catering to both non-contestable and contestable works. Collaboration within a multi-disciplinary team to ensure design technical excellence is crucial.
Principal Accountabilities:
* Produce and assure Electrical Designs compliant with standards and CDM requirements, providing guidance to others.
* Deliver designs conforming to relevant Codes of Practice, company, and industry standards, especially for our Sub-stations.
* Contribute to technical, commercial, and contractual documentation for engineering procurement.
* Ensure compliance with legislation, regulations, and company procedures.
* Comply with design assurance and audit processes.
* Prepare concept and developed designs within defined periods.
* Provide excellent customer service.
* Collaborate within multi-disciplinary teams.
* Liaise with operational teams for smooth project processes.
* Comply with CDM Regulations, ensuring hazard elimination and risk reduction.
* Support and mentor team members to enhance their technical expertise.
Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
* Strong background and experience in electrical engineering.
* Extensive knowledge of design processes, DNO, ENA, and International Design Standards.
* Ability to liaise effectively with external stakeholders.
* Capable of final design sign-off.
* Good understanding of CDM Regulations.
* Ability to work independently, set targets, and implement cost-saving solutions.
* Strong team working skills.
* Business, environmental, safety, financial, and regulatory awareness.
* Knowledge of project management.
* Proficiency in Microsoft applications and Auto CAD/MicroStation.
* Awareness of technological developments in distribution equipment.
* Broad knowledge of cables and overhead lines.
* Contribution to innovative construction ideas for our Green Action Plan.
* Degree in engineering or science.
* Chartered Engineer or working towards Chartership.
Dimensions:
* Site visits are required, including entry to operational substations, adhering to safety rules and procedures.
Health and Safety Responsibilities:
* Managers and supervisors ensure health and safety of employees, briefing them on safety requirements. Employees understand and apply necessary controls to manage risks. Adherence to environmental impact controls is also vital.
