My client is seeking a motivated and experienced Principal Traffic Engineer to join their team on a contract basis.

Job description

You will ensure successful delivery that offers value for money, safe and sustainable solutions, and achieves targets set.
In this role, you will be responsible for managing a team who will work together to successfully deliver projects. You will proactively take an engineering lead in the delivery of projects to aid the quality delivery of all aspects of the program, ensuring projects offer value for money while delivering the aims and ambitions of the client.
Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the delivery of projects from inception through to design and construction
• Ensure successful delivery that offers value for money, safe and sustainable solutions, and achieves targets set
• Lead the financial and contractual management of projects, with emphasis on delivery within time and budget
• Proactively take an engineering lead in the delivery of projects to aid the quality delivery of all aspects of the program
• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with project managers and other stakeholders
• Line manage and mentor a team of engineering staff, ensuring their wellbeing and professional development needs are met
• Ensure the team works in accordance with current design and contract legislation, standards, and guidance
• Apply health and safety regulations including the CDM Regulations 2015

Key Requirements:

• Strong understanding and appreciation of the importance of road safety and sustainable travel
• Significant experience in producing design solutions through all stages of design, preparing contract documents, working with contractors, and applying the CDM Regulations
• Expert knowledge of design legislation, standards, and guidance
• Ability to derive innovative solutions to complex challenges
• Skills and experience in managing relationships with stakeholders to provide expert advice, negotiate, and collaborate to deliver schemes
• Experience in managing resources, including staff and budget, to deliver projects that meet quality, cost, and time objectives
