Job description
Our client, a Local Authroity based in the Shropshire region, is currently seeking a Planning Policy Officer to join their team on a 3-month initial contract basis. This role offers the opportunity to work 20-24 hours per week, providing flexible working arrangements. As a Planning Policy Officer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing planning policies, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct research and analysis to support the development and review of planning policies.
- Assist in the preparation and presentation of policy reports, briefings, and guidance documents.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and consensus on policy objectives.
- Undertake site visits and consultation activities to gather input and feedback.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness and impact of existing planning policies.
- Keep abreast of relevant legislation, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Contribute to the development of strategic plans and objectives.
- Provide support in the preparation of planning policy documents for public consultations.
Job Requirements:
- Significant experience in planning policy, ideally within the enviromental sector.
- Excellent understanding of relevant legislation, regulations, and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct research, analyze data, and present findings.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear and concise reports.
- Good stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships.
- Proficiency in using planning policy software and tools.
- An understanding of the historic environment would be advantageous.
