Our sites use cookies to recognise individual user activity on our sites. This helps us to provide a good browsing experience, and also allows us to improve our sites. By using and continuing to browse our sites, you are agreeing to our use of cookies. A cookie is a small text file that is stored by your browser on your device or the hard drive of your computer, if you agree. They are generally used to make website function, or function more efficiently. They can allow you to access information that, perhaps, is limited to you as a registered user, or to remember your preferences. They also provide information to those operating a website, for example counting the number of people looking at the website, or the type of browser/device they use.
Cookies contain information that is transferred to your computer's hard drive or device. Important things for you to know about cookies are:
- they are not used to identify you personally - we will not pass your data on to advertising networks or other third parties;
- any third-party links to social media channels only deploy third party cookies if you have already signed up to those channels and are logged in;
- you will normally see a message on the site before we store a cookie on your computer; and
- cookies also remember notifications you may have already seen so that you don't get shown them again.
How we use cookies
We analyse the operation of our website and users’ website behaviour to improve the website and its usefulness via Google Analytics (a freemium web analytics service offered by Google that tracks and reports website traffic). This includes analysing application data such as the data source, number of applicants etc.
We use Google Analytics software to collect information about how our websites are used. This means we can make sure we are meeting the needs of our users and make continuous improvements based on this information.
Google Analytics stores information about:
- the web pages visited by users;
- the length of time users spend on each web page;
- how a user came to the site (e.g., 3rd party link, social media channel, organic search); and
- what clicks are made while a user is visiting the site.
We do not collect or store your personal information (e.g., your name or address); stored cookies cannot be used to identify who you are.
We may at times utilise personalisation. Personalisation enhances your experience by providing personalised content and features, including more relevant adverts based on a user’s activity on our website (e.g. a page visit, a job search, a vacancy submission, a download).
For more information, and visit Google's uses of information within the Google Privacy & Terms site.
We use the following cookies:
- essential cookies: these are cookies that are required for the operation of our site. They include, for example, cookies that enable you to log into secure areas of our site;
- analytical/performance cookies: they allow us to recognise and count the number of visitors and to see how visitors move around our site when they are using it. This helps us to improve the way our site works, for example, by ensuring that users are finding what they are looking for easily;
- functionality cookies: these are used to recognise you when you return to our site. This enables us to personalise our content for you, greet you by name and remember your preferences (for example, your choice of region); and
- targeting cookies: these cookies record your visit to our site, the pages you have visited and the links you have followed. We will use this information to make our site and the advertising displayed on it more relevant to your interests. We may also share this information with third parties for this purpose.
