We're expanding our Controls Engineering team with two new hires - one experienced Electrical Controls Design Engineer and one Senior. If you're excited by technically complex systems and want to work on advanced special-purpose machinery, we want to hear from you.

You'll take ownership of the electrical design process for large-scale automation systems used in cutting-edge industries such as automotive battery testing and high-spec manufacturing. Working from concept through to commissioning, you'll collaborate with mechanical, software, and build teams to deliver industry-leading solutions.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts using EPLAN Electric P8
  • Create BOMs, terminal schedules, device tagging, and cable lists
  • Translate client specs and internal briefs into fully compliant electrical documentation
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers to align physical layout and design intent
  • Specify components and support procurement with technical input
  • Respond to build and commissioning queries throughout the lifecycle
  • Ensure all work complies with relevant safety and quality standards

What We're Looking For

  • HNC / HND / BEng in Electrical Engineering or similar
  • Experience designing industrial control systems or automation projects
  • Strong EPLAN Electric P8 knowledge (or similar tools)
  • Understanding of IEC 60204-1, PUWER, and the Machinery Directive
  • Ability to produce and interpret detailed technical documentation
  • Organised, methodical, and confident working across multidisciplinary teams

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with UL508A and UL-compliant panel design
  • TÜV Functional Safety training (ISO 13849, IEC 61508)
  • Experience with pneumatic control systems and Siemens PLC hardware (S7-1200/1500)
  • Automotive or machinery sector experience (especially high-voltage or EV systems)

Why Join?

  • Hybrid working: 3 days on-site in Essex, 2 days remote
  • Work on highly engineered systems with real-world impact
  • Friendly, experienced team with opportunities to grow into senior roles or lead projects
