Our client, a dynamic engineering consultancy in the utilities sector, is currently seeking a Transmission Engineer to join their experienced teams in Mississauga, Calgary, and Winnipeg. This is a permanent position within a company specialising in Transmission & Distribution, offering a diverse and dynamic work environment.
Job Requirements:
- Proven expertise in power/transmission systems, including understanding of medium to high voltage transmission lines
- Strong knowledge of industry codes and standards such as CEC, CSA, IEEE, IEC, CIGRE, ANSI, and NEMA
- Experience with PLS-CADD, TOWER, and POLE software
- Proficient in performing engineering design, analysis, and calculations for transmission projects
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Electrical engineering
- Licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.)
- Excellent communication skills
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and engineering execution of transmission projects
- Interpret codes, standards, and client requirements to create optimised design criteria documents
- Oversee and produce accurate PLS-CADD / TOWER / POLE models
- Develop scopes of work, material specifications, and construction specifications
- Provide leadership and mentorship to junior staff members
- Manage and track costs and schedules of engineering deliverables
- Coordinate with other discipline teams within the company
- Prepare project proposals including cost and budget estimates
- Perform site investigations and field reviews
- Review and seal final design prints
- Participate in technical meetings with other disciplines, contractors, and clients
