Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting technically accurate assessments and preparing clear, detailed reports
- Supporting graduates and less experienced staff
- Liaising with internal and external clients to manage expectations
- Maintaining and developing strong background and technical knowledge, including the EA's Land Contamination Risk Management (LCRM) Framework
- Ensuring deliverables meet clients' needs, are on time/budget, and adhere to high standards
- Planning tasks to ensure project timeliness and budget adherence
- Supporting geoenvironmental consultants/graduates
- Project managing smaller projects with good commercial/financial awareness
- Contributing to bids and assisting with business development
Role:
Land contamination risk management: Undertaking assessments and contributing to reports including:
- Preliminary risk assessments and land contamination desk studies
- Site investigation scheme design and oversight
- Assessing ground conditions and preparing ground models
- Quantitative risk assessments (GQRA) with a focus on human health
- Detailed quantitative risk assessment (DQRA)
- Remediation options appraisal, strategy, and verification
Materials and waste: Preparing and completing assessments such as:
- Waste classification and waste acceptance assessments
- Material management strategies and plans
Job Requirements:
- Degree in environmental earth science, geoenvironmental, or geological science
- Membership of a relevant environmental professional body
- Chartered member (or working towards chartership) of a relevant professional body
- Considerable experience working with UK consultancies on a range of development/infrastructure projects
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and organisational skills
- Full familiarity with UK land contamination policy, practice, and guidance documents
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Full UK driving licence with own transport
