Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting technically accurate assessments and preparing clear, detailed reports
  • Supporting graduates and less experienced staff
  • Liaising with internal and external clients to manage expectations
  • Maintaining and developing strong background and technical knowledge, including the EA's Land Contamination Risk Management (LCRM) Framework
  • Ensuring deliverables meet clients' needs, are on time/budget, and adhere to high standards
  • Planning tasks to ensure project timeliness and budget adherence
  • Supporting geoenvironmental consultants/graduates
  • Project managing smaller projects with good commercial/financial awareness
  • Contributing to bids and assisting with business development

Role:


Land contamination risk management: Undertaking assessments and contributing to reports including:

  • Preliminary risk assessments and land contamination desk studies
  • Site investigation scheme design and oversight
  • Assessing ground conditions and preparing ground models
  • Quantitative risk assessments (GQRA) with a focus on human health
  • Detailed quantitative risk assessment (DQRA)
  • Remediation options appraisal, strategy, and verification


Materials and waste: Preparing and completing assessments such as:

  • Waste classification and waste acceptance assessments
  • Material management strategies and plans

Job Requirements:

  • Degree in environmental earth science, geoenvironmental, or geological science
  • Membership of a relevant environmental professional body
  • Chartered member (or working towards chartership) of a relevant professional body
  • Considerable experience working with UK consultancies on a range of development/infrastructure projects
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and organisational skills
  • Full familiarity with UK land contamination policy, practice, and guidance documents
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Full UK driving licence with own transport
