Introduction
Our client, a leading name in the construction industry, is looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Dublin. You'll be working on high-profile, critical infrastructure projects in a fast-paced, rewarding environment.
What will I be doing?
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you'll play a key role in keeping projects running smoothly on time, and within budget. In this role, you will:
- Track project deliverables and make sure commercial and admin systems, budgets, and cost controls are being used effectively.
- Lead and support commercial teams to ensure smooth project delivery from planning through to completion.
- Review tender documentation in detail to spot any risks or opportunities early on.
- Select and approve contractors and suppliers, ensuring they meet project requirements.
- Handle contractual correspondence in line with contract terms, including detailed analysis of EOT notifications and claims.
- Keep a close eye on timelines and budgets to ensure projects stay on track.
- Support the definition of project scope, goals, and deliverables from the outset.
- Prepare reports comparing actual costs to estimates, highlighting any variances and offering practical solutions.
- Present clear updates on project progress, identifying issues and recommending fixes.
- Work closely with clients to help them meet their objectives through cost control and commercial advice.
- Ensure subcontracts are aligned with the agreed scope, and manage communications, payments, and programme submissions.
- Make sure all project team members understand the contract arrangements and what's needed to meet both client and partner expectations.
What do I need to succeed?
- You hold a bachelor's degree in quantity surveying & construction economics, or an equivalent qualification recognised by SCSI and/or RICS.
- You bring solid hands-on experience in quantity surveying, ideally within the construction or infrastructure sectors.
- You're skilled at building and maintaining strong client and PQS relationships communication is one of your strengths.
- You have a solid understanding of key contract types like RIAI, FIDIC, and JCT, and know how to navigate them confidently.
- Your commercial awareness is sharp, you stay on top of market trends and understand the competitive landscape.
- You're a confident negotiator with the ability to handle conflict and resolve issues efficiently.
- You pay close attention to detail and can critically evaluate project documents to spot risks or inconsistencies.
