Our client, BAE Systems, a key player in the Defence & Security sector, is currently seeking a Lead Quality Engineer to join their Business Unit- Submarines team on a contract basis. This role is based in Barrow with potential hybrid working arrangements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading the quality assurance activities within the Submarine Solutions business unit
- Developing, implementing and maintaining quality management systems
- Ensuring that all products, processes, and systems comply with relevant quality standards and regulatory requirements
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and address quality issues
- Providing guidance and training to team members on quality standards and best practices
- Reporting on quality metrics and performance to senior management
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and operational efficiency
- Managing and coordinating internal and external audits
Job Requirements:
- Significant experience in quality engineering within the Defence or Security sector
- Strong understanding of quality management systems and regulatory requirements
- Experience working with larger mechanical pieces and electrical support systems
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to lead and motivate a team of engineers
- Effective communication skills with the ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders
- Security level SC, subject to ITAR and UK eyes only

- Location: Barrow, with hybrid working arrangements negotiable
- Duration: 12 months
