Our client, BAE Systems, a key player in the Defence & Security sector, is currently seeking a Lead Quality Engineer to join their Business Unit- Submarines team on a contract basis. This role is based in Barrow with potential hybrid working arrangements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading the quality assurance activities within the Submarine Solutions business unit
  • Developing, implementing and maintaining quality management systems
  • Ensuring that all products, processes, and systems comply with relevant quality standards and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and address quality issues
  • Providing guidance and training to team members on quality standards and best practices
  • Reporting on quality metrics and performance to senior management
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and operational efficiency
  • Managing and coordinating internal and external audits

Job Requirements:

  • Significant experience in quality engineering within the Defence or Security sector
  • Strong understanding of quality management systems and regulatory requirements
  • Experience working with larger mechanical pieces and electrical support systems
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team of engineers
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders
  • Security level SC, subject to ITAR and UK eyes only

Contract Information:

  • Location: Barrow, with hybrid working arrangements negotiable
  • Duration: 12 months
