Key Responsibilities: |
* Produce detailed designs using 3D CAD and use FEA and CFD tools to simulate mechanical behaviour * Preparation of technical estimates for non-recurring costs and manpower requirements * Technical management of external suppliers and outsource providers, including technical governance. * Liaison with customers, internal and external * Preparation and presentation of technical design reviews. * Undertake tolerance analysis of designs including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance * Act as Project Engineer on projects and bids when required * Coaching and mentoring of other Mechanical Engineers within the business * Generate and amend drawings and documentation to appropriate standards including BS8888 * Produce documentation to support development of aerospace products * Continuous improvement of processes and tools including support to corporate change initiatives |
Outline of Competencies: |
· Ability to author review and approve engineering drawings, key understanding of BS 8888 and ISO standards · Ability to effectively communicate with peers and stakeholder, in verbal and written format (i.e. via technical reports and presentations) · Working knowledge of key aerospace standards · Engineering background in the aerospace or defence industry · Ability to lead project teams where necessary, delivering to budget and schedule · Ability to work independently without need for close supervision. · Ability to use simulation analysis tools (FEA/CFD) to influence designs and understand behaviour of components · Ability to analyse process or tools to propose improvements where applicable |
